Day 3 - first haul of groceries
Here's my first haul of groceries from Sprouts Market and Target in the trunk. I filled the trunk up! It took me about 2 hours to do the whole shopping trip because I was unfamiliar with where things were in Sprouts and I had to go over to sporting goods (at the back of the store) in Target to get the Nalgene bottles. Next time I'll be more organized and know where things are in Sprouts.
I got nuts (walnut, almond, pecans) and seeds (sunflower) along with some sweet potatoes and a jar of coconut oil. Not sure what I'll be doing with that but it was on the list. LOL
Bananas, granny smith apples, cuties, lemons, limes, oranges, golden delicious apples, an avocado, fresh ginger and a red onion.
The fridge is full now. I got tons of veggies. It's nice to see all the different colors of foods. I have to be careful that everything gets used and doesn't go to waste.
The juicer will arrive later today. I'll post pictures of that too.
I've had a mild headache since I woke up and feel tired but I was able to get the grocery shopping done so that's a big victory. My feet hurt now and I'm super fatigued but it's not anything I can't tolerate. I had a banana and some baby carrots when I got home. That will hold me over until I make a salad or something. I still have to move the microwave so I can put the juicer on the lower counter. I'll do that in a little bit.
I'm pretty excited that I got all the fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds that we will need. I found some sites online with recipes for raw food and I'm going to use them at some point. I was pleased with all the recipes I found that I would like. Usually it's recipes for stuff that doesn't appeal to me. So that was cool.
I was up at 7:30am, out by 8am and home by 10am. It's almost 11am now. I'm not sure when David gets home from his volunteer work at the Ronald McDonald house but I'm looking forward to showing him all that I got. I spent about $170 total but that included 3 Nalgene bottles, pure stevia, coconut oil, coconut water, 2 flats of water, ice and all the nuts and seeds. I'll have a better idea of the weekly cost when I don't have to get the staples. I think all I got will last us a week (I hope!) with juicing once or twice a day. I can always go back to Sprouts if we need more. It's worth the cost though to get all this healthy food. I usually spend about $100 a week anyway plus all the money I spend on eating out and at the convenience store. So I think that financially it will be very doable.
Time to rest now before David gets home. I'll move the microwave in a little bit too in preparation for the juicer arriving. I may have to have David to help me because it weighs about 15 pounds. Headache, joint pain and muscle ache are all tolerable. It's hard to get up and walk around though. I look forward to those problems going away as I continue this journey. That's it for now. More when the juicer arrives.
