Back in the day
I was looking at photos from back in the day and one thing I realized is that I was always moving in the photos or doing something. Most of my pictures in the last 10 years are of me sitting, doing nothing. I always looked happy back then too. Now I look frumpy and mad. LOL I want to get back to the active me and leave behind the frumpy me. I plan on doing that on my journey with WW. As soon as I get my knee situation figured out I will be on the move again.
Our WW leader, Karen, was telling us the other day that it's not our metabolism that slows down - it's us! We slow down as we age. We don't move as much and so we don't stay thin and trim like we used to be. I know that's true for me. I was always in action up until my car accident in 1993. Yes, I did have multiple injuries (closed head, neck, shoulder, back and right leg) and surgeries but I didn't have to let it become an excuse to sit around and get fat. I did though. I let it stop me in my tracks. It was when I weighed myself and realized I was almost 300 pounds that I decided that I needed to do something and at the urging of my physician's assistant I joined WW.
Now I'm down 15 pounds and have 109 to go. Yes, it's a lot. Yes, it seems daunting if I look at that number but I'm only looking at 5 lbs at a time. I can lose 5 pounds. So I'm on my way to losing 20 pounds now. I have more energy and even though I have a knee injury I'm moving more now than I ever have. I can't imagine what it's going to be like once the knee if fixed!
